The Arts Center in Lexington, NC, Offers Works by Harris Holt and Area Woodcarvers

The Arts Center, home of Arts United for Davidson County in Lexington, NC, is pleased to present the work of Harris Holt along with the work of the Davidson County Woodcarvers. The exhibition will open Oct. 2 and continue through Oct. 31.

The work of Harris Holt will be featured in The Art Center's Main Gallery. Holt was born in Massachusetts but moved to his father's home state of NC when he was three years old. His early childhood was spent in the small town of Laurinburg. He currently resides in Charlotte, NC.

Holt has a degree in Commercial Art and Advertising Design, but has always enjoyed fine art drawing and painting. Many of Holt's paintings, executed in either watercolor or oil, feature landscapes, historic architecture and water scenes. Inspired by nature and the picturesque scenery of NC, the place he calls home, Holt's work helps viewers find the beauty in everyday objects and scenes.

The Upstairs Gallery will feature the work of several members of the Davidson County Woodcarvers. A variety of woodcarvings will be on display, with several more works being added during the last weekend of the month for their annual competition. The competition will take place at The Arts Center during the Barbeque Festival, Saturday, Oct. 27. In addition, Davidson County Woodcarver member Wayne Covert will be teaching an introductory class in carving for both kids ages 6 + (soapcarving) and teens 15-adult during the month of Oct.

For more information check our NC Institutional Gallery listings or call the Center at 336/249-7862.
