Print Studio South Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Work by Lynne Riding

The Print Studio South Gallery, in Charleston, SC will be hosting an exhibit of works by Lynne Riding entitled Barrier Island - Recent Prints. The exhibit will be on view from Oct. 16 through Nov. 19, 2001.

The prints to be shown are part of an ongoing body of work resulting from a period of time Riding spent on a coastal "barrier" island. Pritchards Island is a totally unspoilt natural island.

Riding was selected by Beaufort Arts Council as one of a group of 12 artists to spend a week removed from everyday life on the island. Studies in the form of drawings and paintings were made on the island and this group of prints is developed from this work.

Riding says of her work, "I am concerned totally with the erosion and the resulting strong forms produced, contrasting with the atmosphere and beauty of the place as in the colors which are so muted and hazy. As always I am trying to achieve an essence and true feeling of the place. It is another world showing the past and present - the future?"

Lynne Riding is a printmaker/painter living in Charleston. An adjunct professor at the College of Charleston in the studio art department, she also continues to develop her own work and commissions for large scale paintings.
