Arts Center of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Photography Exhibition and Competition

The Arts Center of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, will present two photography exhibitions entitled, 36 Frames and Images of Henderson County. The exhibits will be on view from Oct. 5 through Nov. 30, 2002.

36 Frames features the photography of Tom Nebbia, John Smith, and John Flinchum. Tom Nebbia began his photography career documenting the Korean Conflict, and went on to become a National Geographic photographer for 27 yrs. His works are collected in several museums and are often compared to paintings.

John Smith was a full-time photographer for General Electric, but now he is the owner of PhotoQuick, with photo labs in Hendersonville, Biltmore,NC, and Asheville, NC. He recently began using a 4X5 camera to capture area mountain landscapes in the manner of Ansel Adams.

John Flinchum's work features dramatic shots of the animals of the African savanna as well as some celebrity shots.

The exhibition, 36 Frames, is sponsored by 5th Avenue Travel.

Winners of the photography contest, Images of Henderson County, will be on exhibit in the Center's Hall Gallery. The competition is an effort to encourage the continuation of documentation of life in Henderson County that was begun over a hundred years ago by the Baker-Barber family.
