Art Community in Shelby, NC, Offers First Gallery Crawl

Have you ever wished that there were more hours in a day? Do you ever find yourself wanting to go to view some incredible artwork, but can't find a local gallery that is open? Then we have the solution. Art aRound Town, Uptown Shelby, NC's first Gallery Crawl is scheduled for Oct. 16, 2003, from 5:30-9:30pm.

Cleveland County Arts Council, Cleveland Springs Fine Art Gallery, Allen Griffin Studio, Frame Masters Gallery, BJ Silver Frame Shop and Gallery, and Synergy Studios are giving you the chance to see all of the galleries on the same evening. All six galleries will be open extended hours serving light refreshments and featuring distinctive and original artwork.

You can start your crawl at any of the galleries and proceed at your own pace. If you visit all six galleries the night of the crawl you might receive a free gift from one of the galleries. Participants should pick up a map/registration form at one of the galleries, have it stamped as you view the artwork, then leave it at your last stop. Six names will be drawn the following day.

"This is something that we've wanted to do for a long time, and now we finally have enough galleries to actually have a crawl," stated Shearra Miller, President of the Cleveland County Arts Council.

Art aRound Town coincides with the opening of the Arts Council's Hanging by a Thread Fiber Art Exhibit. The winners of the juried competition will be announced during the gallery crawl.
