The Arts Center, in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Marsha Hammel

The Arts Center, in downtown Hendersonville, NC, is proud to have a showing of oil paintings by Marsha Hammel. The show entitled, Impromptu, features approximately 20 of Hammel's works and will be in the Sam Neill Gallery at The Arts Center until Oct. 30, 2004.

Hammel has been a resident of Hendersonville since 1999, previously residing in New Orleans, Miami and the West. Her work reflects the style of the European Modernists; her imagery is figurative; the composition imbued with texture, contrast and bold color.

Tim Morrissey, Executive Director of the Arts Center said, "We are very fortunate to have Marsha's work here, even for this brief time. We have hoped for some time to be able to show her work, and the timing was just right."

Hammel had this to say about her work: "Much like musicians who are always trying to achieve 'tone' I work for a visual tone-that is, throughout the multiple aspects of the picture, a holistic sense of atmosphere with which I hope to convey the emotion of a moment."

Hammel is represented in galleries in London and Toronto and has been a working artist for over 30 years.

Also on display in the gallery is the winner of the Perry N. Rudnick Juried Sculpture Competition.
