Fraser Fox Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by West Fraser

Fraser Fox Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibition, Stockholm and the Midnight Sun, featuring painting by American Impressionist West Fraser. The exhibit opens on Oct. 6, and continues through Oct. 27, 2005.

Fraser in his 30 years as a professional painter has painted from coast to coast in the United States, Central America, Europe and the Caribbean. This American impressionist plein air painter is called one of "Today's Masters" and "Charleston's best-known, most widely collected contemporary artist" by Art and Antiques magazine. Fraser has established an impeccable reputation as a documenter of the beauty and natural light around him.

Residing for the past 21 years in Charleston and marking the half century point of his life, Fraser tackles a new location. Having just returned from painting at Lake Tahoe with the Plein Air Painters of America, he departed for five weeks of painting in Sweden.

Fraser's museum and gallery shows are too numerous to mention. He has been featured in over fifty articles and books including a magnificent book on his work entitled, Charleston in My Time: The Paintings of West Fraser. A storyteller of location and light, his work shows the influence of the American masters such as Childe Hassam and William Merritt Chase.

As an observer of the changes in the modern landscape this Savannah, GA, born and Hilton Head, SC, raised outdoorsman Fraser has sought out the unscathed maritime islands and marshes. The excitement and challenge of the distinctions in the light and atmosphere of other locations draws Fraser to explore far and wide and bring home his visions. The northern light and midnight sun of Sweden were treats to behold at the hand of this modern master.
