Garden & Art Tour Takes Place on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC

A street of newly constructed upscale custom homes in Daniel Island Park, on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC, will serve as a canvas for a special event this fall to showcase modern day interpretations of the lifestyle and cultural aspects for which historic Charleston is renowned, including art, architecture, gardens, outdoor living, food and entertaining. The Tour takes place from Nov. 16 through Dec. 4, 2005.

The unfurnished interiors of five homes will be transformed into gallery spaces showcasing the work of Lowcountry female artists whose work is part of the Gibbes Museum of Art's permanent collection. Featured artists will include Eva Carter, Linda Fantuzzo, Rhett Thurman, Mary Edna Fraser, Julia Cart and sweetgrass basket artisan Mary Jackson. Innovative landscape and garden designs, coupled with exciting exterior architectural concepts, will also be showcased during the Tour and will serve as fresh venues for dining and entertaining ideas.

During the Tour, a series of special scheduled events including wine tastings, outdoor cooking and barbecuing demonstrations, art classes, holiday decoration seminars, artists receptions and more will take place in venues within this street of homes. The finale event on Dec 4, 2005, showcases the art of outdoor entertaining and features the creativity of some of Charleston's premier caterers.

The homes will be open for tour beginning on Nov 16. Tickets for the Tour and corresponding special events will be available for purchase beginning in October at (www.danielisland.com) or in-person at the Daniel Island Real Estate Sales Center on Daniel Island and the Gibbes Museum of Art in downtown historic Charleston.

Proceeds from the Garden and Art Tour will benefit the Lowcountry affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Gibbes Museum of Art.
