Hamlet Gallery of Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Carol McGill

.The Hamlet Gallery of Fine Art in Charleston, SC, is pleased to welcome artist Carol McGill, winner of the 2005 Cooper River Bridge Competition with an exhibition of works that will be on view from Oct. 1 - 31, 2005.

McGill has just returned from the 12th Annual Carmel Plein Air Art Invitational and Exhibition at Gallery Elite, Carmel, CA. "The experience was exhilarating; hanging alongside top name artists from across the country" said McGill. She also sold her exhibition piece!

"Carol's artwork communicates her feelings about the subject through use of vibrant hues of contrasting shadows and light. Movement and rhythm are also strong elements of her work," says Stephanie Hamlet, gallery owner.

Compositions are executed in styles of expressionism, impressionism, plein air, or abstraction. McGill finds all challenging, and each appropriate to express a certain voice -her voice. McGill's style is capturing life's experiences, using large brushes and working quickly to focus on patterns, strong verticals, and geometric shapes of color. Collectors are attracted to her saturated palette while others are drawn to a familiar scene, and then there are those who have an emotional connection to her artwork.

Colors, like houses and trees and flowers change with location. That is why McGill loves to travel and paint: European vineyards, NC mountains, SC seashores and Charleston Bridges. McGill paints from passion, heart and visual stimulation wherever she sets up her easel. "God does wondrous things with our landscape; I try to capture a part of that glory and share it." says McGill.

McGill was recently selected as one of seven South Carolina artists to participate in the South Carolina Aquarium's fall exhibition, Artistic Visions: From the Mountains to the Sea.
