Art League of Hilton Head on Hilton Head Island, SC, Features Works by Dawn Duff

The Art League of Hilton Head (formerly the Hilton Head Art League) on Hilton Head Island, SC, is presenting the exhibit, A 3D Eclectic Spirit: Three Dimensional and Wearable Art, featuring works by Dawn Duff. The exhibit will be on view from Oct. 9 through Nov. 3, 2006.

Duff is an imaginative artist who designs one of a kind pieces from jewelry and other wearables to hanging three dimensional and outdoor pieces. She creates with polymer clay, mosaic, silk, velvet, cement, paper, paints, and found objects. Many of her pieces have an ancient or historical feel. However, Duff is best known for her spiritual artwork. "Prayer Bowls" are her signature pieces, with scripture writings etched into the bowl's interior.

This self-taught Bluffton, SC, artist has worked in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel. However, after neurological damage and some paralysis due to a spinal cord condition and subsequent surgery, she took up working with clay as a healing therapy.  This deviation in her medium led to a love of all tactile art forms.

Besides instructing art classes and workshops at the Heritage Academy and the Hilton Head Art League Academy, Duff has been recently juried onto the South Carolina Arts Commission Approved Artist Roster, and therefore will be expending her Residency work.
