The Kensington Stobart Gallery in Charleston SC, Features works by Julia O'Malley-Keyes and Kim Shaklee

The Kensington Stobart Gallery in downtown Charleston, SC, will present an exhibition of marine art work by Julia O'Malley Keyes and Kim Shaklee. The exhibit will be on view from Oct. 5 - Nov. 10, 2007.

O'Malley-Keyes is a realist artist who specializes in original oil paintings of classic sailing Yachts, Cape Cod landscapes and harbors, limited edition giclee prints and commissioned paintings. As a result of her frequent excursions to study with masters around the world, she has developed formidable painting abilities that are applied to landscapes, still life, marine and portraiture with equally deft skill and masterly effect. She paints oil on linen using a technique that infuses each landscape with a soft, luminous quality.

O'Malley-Keyes was chosen as the Signature Artist for the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Tanglewood Festival in 2004, and once again in 2005, making her the only artist in the history of the festival to be awarded this honor in two consecutive years. She has created commissioned portraits of numerous celebrities, including baseball great John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil for the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Harry Connick Jr. and commissioned works of art for Charles Gibson of ABC News. O'Malley-Keyes has also made her mark as one of contemporary art's most distinguished marine artists and has created action packed paintings for the owners of many of the world's high profile sailing yachts.

O'Malley-Keyes was voted as one of the "Top 400 People" on Cape Cod on five occasions by independent surveys conducted by Cape Cod Life Magazine. She resides in North Falmouth, MA, where she maintains her studio, art gallery, and base of operations for her other passion, charities, which includes involvement with 17 local, state and national organizations. Her luminous paintings and fine prints are collected extensively by private and corporate admirers of her work, throughout the US, Europe and Canada. She is a member of the American Society of Marine artists.

Joining O'Malley-Keys is wildlife and marine sculptor Kim Shaklee. A native of Denver, CO, she has developed a great appreciation for the natural world. Combining her life experiences, knowledge, strong artistic abilities, and love for creatures of land and sea, Shaklee has become a skilled wildlife and marine artist. "I use beautiful curves and smooth surfaces in many of my works to entice people to touch. I sometimes incorporate abstract shapes and texture to make a distinct delineation between the animal and its environment," says Shaklee.

Shaklee is a member of the American Society of Marine Artists and the Allied Artists of America just to name a few. Her work has been accepted in numerous national and international exhibitions and is included in collections around the world, including the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC. She recently received the Merit Purchase Award from the Bennington Center for the Arts during a current exhibition; Visions of America, featuring works from members of the American Academy of Women Artists.
