October Issue 2008

Dog & Horse Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Group Show

Dog & Horse Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, The Hunt, featuring a collection of paintings by artists from across the country beautifully expressing the timeless traditions of "The Hunt". The exhibit will be on view from Oct. 2 through Nov. 1, 2008.

The Hunt, summoned by the horn's early morning call, a rider and his horse and hounds engage in the pursuit of a favorite pastime. Setters, pointers and foxhounds sweep the tranquil scenery, flushing out the birds and foxes that brought them to the woods.

The exhibition will include the loyalty and humility of the hounds, breathtaking landscapes, and the prized game, as well as paintings depicting the field of riders following the hounds in pursuit of the fox through the woods.

Over twenty of the gallery's locally, regionally and nationally recognized artists will contribute paintings that are simply beautiful or a cherished find for the serious collector. The Hunt paintings are available in a variety of styles and mediums.

Joseph Sulkowski
Lynn Daly

Among the gallery's featured artists are Joseph Sulkowski, the undisputed master of dog paintings, and Larry Wheeler, who, sparked by his own interest in the tradition of "The Hunt", will contribute a still life of a huntsman's study.
