October Issue 2008

Henderson County Arts Council's 2nd Annual Open Studio Tour Take Place Oct. 11 & 12, 2008 - Henderson County, NC

Thirty individual Henderson County, NC, artists have agreed to open their personal studios, showcasing works in a variety of styles and media, for the weekend of Oct. 11 & 12, 2008, so that those who are curious can visit and experience where the imagined becomes physical. Thirteen galleries of The Henderson County Gallery Guild, most located in the Hendersonville, NC, area are also participating, with many offering demos from their resident artists.

The core activity for the weekend will be a free self-guided tour offering a glimpse of artists' creative world and work from their personal studios. Hours for the tour are Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from noon to 5pm.

Perhaps you're interested in the artists that live in your area; if so, you might choose to visit a particular group on the map. Or perhaps you are intrigued by a particular artistic medium; if so, you may choose to visit artists of that medium. Or you can just get in the car and enjoy the October leaves and weather that WNC is so famous for. There's nothing like observing Nature's art in between viewing hand-made art!

A Preview Exhibit of works by artists participating in the Open Studio Tour will be offered at the Henderson County Public Library in downtown Hendersonville, from Oct. 2 - 9, 2008.

Tour brochures with each artist and gallery listed and a map of how to find them will be available at The Arts Council of Henderson County (828/693-8504), The Henderson County Visitors Information Center (1-800/828-4244), The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce (828/692-1413), and at local Bed & Breakfasts, Inns, and Hotels. Maps, information, and links to the artists are available at (www.acofhc.com) and (www.galleryguild.com/STUDIOTOUR).
