The Arts Council of Henderson County, NC, Offers New Festival

The Arts Council of Henderson County in Henderson County, NC, announces its major fall project, The Arts Council Presents... This first-time marketing festival focuses on the diversity and quality of Henderson County's arts and cultural communities, specifically those events occurring around Oct. 2 ­ 11, 2009.

Ruth Birge, former publisher of the Times-News and the Honorary Chair, says, "Henderson County has long been a bastion for the arts ­ all type of art.  I'm delighted to be the Honorary Chair for 'The Arts Council Presents'."

Morris Broadband is the premier sponsor with additional support provided by Henderson County Travel & Tourism, Bold Life, Times-News and Summit Marketing Group.

According to Doug Jarvis, Vice President of The Arts Council, "We believe that The Arts Council Presents... will promote the overall quality, diversity and quantity of our arts and cultural activities, events and organizations to a much wider audience." 
 
"Morris Broadband became involved," according to Mike Kai, Director of Sales and Marketing, "because we are part of the community and we think it is important to be good a corporate citizen. The arts are essential to Henderson County and we want to do our part to promote the arts as important to our quality of life."

The Arts Council Presents... features two of the area's major fall cultural events ­ the 50th Anniversary of Art on Main (Oct. 2 ­ 4, 2009) and the Open Studio Tour (Oct. 10 ­ 11, 2009).
 
There are more than 25 additional events throughout the county, including: Marty's El Paso at Flat Rock Playhouse; Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream ­ Southern Style by the Absolute Theatre Company at the Blue Ridge Performing Arts Center, God's Favorite at the Hendersonville Little Theatre, and Dear Zelda at The®evolving Arts Gallery and the Henderson County Heritage Museum at the Historic Courthouse. Music will include the final concert of the season of Summer Music in Flat Rock and Keyboard Brilliance by the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra with special guest artist Marina Lomazov.

The Arts Council of Henderson County is a community organization that advocates for the arts and provides opportunities to enrich the lives of children and adults through the arts by offering exhibits, art education and performances. The Arts Council, which is handicapped accessible, is located at 538 North Main Street, 2nd Floor (the corner of 6th Avenue and Main) in downtown Hendersonville.

The Arts Council is supported in part by the North Carolina Arts Council, the State of North Carolina, several funds administered by the Community Foundation of Henderson County, and Henderson County.
