McCarter Gallery in Hendersonville, SC, Features Works by Alan McCarter

McCarter Gallery in Hendersonville, SC, is presenting the exhibit, The Great Smoky Mountains - an Artist's Vision, featuring new paintings by Alan McCarter in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on view through Oct. 31, 2009.

The exhibit will feature paintings focused on the extraordinary inspirational beauty of the Park, which the artist has been studying and painting for over twenty years. The show will feature scenes of Cades Cove, Morton Overlook, Oconoluftee Overlook, streams at Tremont and Roaring Fork, the Chimneys Trailhead and Picnic area as well as other timeless treasures from this most beloved Park in the nation.

McCarter Gallery specializes in fine art devoted to the beauty of nature in the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains and is the studio-gallery of Alan McCarter and his artist-wife Robbin. The gallery is located in the heart of historic Main Street in downtown Hendersonville, where it is now in its seventh year.

McCarter moved to the area in 1997 from Richmond, VA, in a career move from computers to professional landscape painting with a calling and a vision to paint the exalted natural imagery of the Appalachian region. McCarter paints in acrylic in a soft idealized romantic realist style with impressionist touches. His purpose in painting is to find the divine images in nature and paint them in a glorified manner to share with others, and thereby uplift the viewer to a realm of beauty and goodness.

McCarter's original paintings, limited edition giclees on canvas and prints fill the gallery, along with artistic nature gifts. He can often be seen at the gallery where he works in his studio in back and enjoys meeting browsers and collectors. Though most of his works feature themes from the NC and TN mountains, he also paints coastal and cottage subjects as well as New England landscapes and seascapes. McCarter also does extensive commission work and has collectors throughout the United States and in other countries. Other galleries featuring his work include Carolina Gallery in Spartanburg, SC, and Lakota Cove Gallery in Jasper, GA.
