Mesh Gallery in Morganton, NC, Offers Works by Renee Whisnant

Mesh Gallery in Morganton, NC, will present A Study on Beauty, featuring paintings, drawings & figure studies by Renee Whisnant, on view from Oct. 7 through Nov. 15, 2013. A reception will be held on Oct. 11, from 6-8pm.

Renee Whisnant was raised by her parents Quteen and Randy Whisnant in Morganton. At sixteen she started studying art with Frances Hairfield who saw her potential and suggested she study with Ben Long in Asheville, NC. After getting her associate in art at Western Piedmont Community College, she left Morganton to study drawing and painting with Ben Long and his associates. She has lived and worked in Asheville for the last 5 years.

“I believe art is an emotional documentation of a subject as well as a literal one. But, to correctly portray emotion, one must rigorously study in the methods of artists which came before them,” says Whisnant.

A Study on Beauty will feature completed works as well as studies and sketches revealing processes and subjects rendered in the classical style.
