Gallery on 8th in Myrtle Beach, SC, Offers New Winter Exhibition

Gallery on 8th, which opened in Myrtle Beach, SC, in Sept. 2001, announced that three new artists will be exhibiting their works through Feb. 14, 2002. Peter Moore, Alex Powers and Kevin Strickland will all showcase their works for sale at the gallery, which is located at 714 8th Avenue North, in Myrtle Beach.

Peter Moore, who studied graphic design at Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles, began Peter Moore Graphic Design shortly after graduation. He began to make relationships with numerous corporations including Nike where he produced his most notable "Air Jordan" logo. He later formed additional relationships with adidas, Taylor Made and other sports related companies and eventually became the president of adidas America.

Moore currently is president and CEO of his own graphic design firm "What 'Ya Think, Inc." in Portland, OR, and will exhibit several monoprints at the Gallery on 8th.

Alex Powers, a self-employed painter and teacher of 28 years, currently exhibits in galleries among five different states. Powers received the Gold Metal award in the 1997 American Watercolor Society Exhibition. He has also been included in several books and magazine publications and is the author of Painting People in Watercolor, A Design Approach.

Powers' painting style has been described as "personal, content-dominated imagery." "I attempt to deal with issues such as human origins, religion, philosophy and economic equality," states Powers. He will offer several paintings including watercolors, gouache, charcoal, pastel and some collage on illustration board.

Kevin Strickland will be exhibiting some of his sculptures, which focus on the human form and its movement. Artists such as Auguste Rodin and Frederick Hart influence his works. Strickland earned a BA in Art Studio at Coastal Carolina University and currently works in Advertising and Marketing with the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.

These three artists will showcase their artwork for sale throughout the Gallery on 8th along with the current exhibits of Tommy Davis, Robert Sadlemire, Karen Crenshaw and Irene Bailey.

Gallery on 8th, which is owned by cc&c management group, inc., also has studio space available for lease. If interested, contact Kathi Quesenberry at 843/429-0018.
