Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC, Features Works by Mike McGlothlen

Bring in the new year with an art exhibition on the theme of Time. The Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC, is proud to present the digital illustrations and clocks of Mike McGlothlen. The exhibit will run Jan. 7-30, 2002. The exhibit is sponsored the Rotary Club of Asheboro.

McGlothlen of Trinity, NC, received his first camera when he was ten. Over the years he has dabbled in painting, sculpture and woodworking as well as photography. He received a degree in commercial photography from Randolph Community College and worked in the large commercial studios in High Point, NC. During his time at RCC he learned photographic manipulation; this was the turning point in his arts career, being able to combine art with his love of photography. His favorite theme has become that of Time, both pictorially and sculpturally. McGlothlen began building clocks as a stress outlet, and over the last five years has developed a substantial body of work.

The Rotary Club of Asheboro sponsors this exhibit as a way of providing yet another service to the community. In its seventy-five year history, the Asheboro Rotary has promoted literacy and education, participated in the global war against polio, and supported the training of peacemakers to eliminate strife from our world. Rotary's motto is "Service Above Self". With the sponsorship of this exhibition, Rotary enters the cultural life of our county community in a supportive role.
