RedSky Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Victor Chiarizia & Ivy Jacobsen

RedSky Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present an exhibit of new work by Victor Chiarizia and Ivy Jacobsen, which takes an imaginative approach to nature. The exhibition will be on view at the gallery's East Blvd. location from Jan. 9 through Feb. 12, 2009.

Victor Chiarizia

Nationally recognized artist Victor Chiarizia's glass is well-known for its technical innovations, organic forms and spirited colorations. Inspired by flora and fauna, Chiarizia's new work features stunning organic shapes that seem to float in space. Likewise, the otherworldly landscapes presented by mixed media painter Ivy Jacobsen seem to float through a world of imagination. Focusing on the time around dawn and dusk, the trees and leaves become silhouettes while the sky in the background shimmers with an ethereal glow.

Since 1975 Chiarizia has explored many facets of glassmaking, including blown, flameworked, cast, etched and sandblasted. Today, his sculptural works express his thoughts about life, growth and renewal in art glass comprised of two distinctive techniques-hot glass and flameworked glass with vitreous fired-on enamels. Profound images from Chiarizia's Italian-American background coupled with a boundless imagination give an earthy yet surreal style to much of his sculptural work. He is represented by fine galleries throughout the United States.

Ivy Jacobsen

Jacobsen currently lives and works in San Francisco. She was born in Kingsburg, California. Her early years spent in rural California laid the foundation for her continued exploration of the natural world through her artwork. Jacobsen studied art history in Paris before continuing her studies at The San Francisco Art Institute and San Francisco State University, from which she received a bachelor's degree in painting and printmaking with honors. Her work can be found in some of the finest galleries in California and New York as well as at RedSky Gallery.

RedSky Gallery features original works on paper and canvas, sculpture, ceramic, glass, studio furniture, art-to-wear, jewelry, and more. Over 500 regional and national artists are represented.
