Works by Jane Desonier at the Asheville Gallery of Art

The Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, presents as its Artist-of-the-Month for Nov., Asheville artist Jane Desonier. The exhibit, The Colors of Autumn: Farm and Mountain Landscapes in Oil runs Nov. 3 - 30.

Desonier decided to become an artist after rearing four children and moving from a small town in south Louisiana to New Orleans. She entered the University of New Orleans and received a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts in 1985. Disappointed that she had so far received little classical training, she began painting full-time and studying at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, an institution devoted to traditional art methods. She also studied in painting workshops with several prominent artists.

Today, Desonier paints exclusively in oils. Her work has been included in national and regional juried shows with numerous awards, including two Grumbacher Gold Medallions for Best-of-Show. Her work is enjoyed by many collectors in the Southern states. Two of her paintings are in the corporate collection of the World Trade Center in New Orleans. In addition to the Asheville Gallery of Art, she is represented by Serenity Gallery in Bay St. Louis, MS, and Wirewick Gallery in Hendersonville, NC.
