Howard Gallery Features Works by 3 Myrtle Beach, SC, Area Artists

The Howard Gallery in Myrtle Beach, SC, will present an exhibition entitled, The Three of Us: Back by Popular Demand, which features the works of Elaine Bigelow, Sudie Daves, and Dixie Dugan. The exhibition will be on view from Nov. 5 through Dec. 31, 2000.

Eight years ago, Bigelow, Daves, and Dugan got together for an exhibit with the same title - a lot has changed since that time, but the three are more active than ever and are still friends - go figure. The three artists work hard at their profession. They take their art seriously and expect people to take it seriously too, but when their work is done, they like to have fun.

This exhibition reflects over one hundred years of combined painting experience and consists of new works which represent the artists' current efforts. Daves' watercolors will be mostly botanicals of materials collected on trips to the Rain Forests and islands of South America. Dugan's work will consist of graphite drawings, watercolors and acrylics with subject matter ranging from figurative drawings to Lowcountry landscapes and still lifes.

Bigelow still paints in oil, developing her plein air studies into large paintings of coastal scenes from South Carolina to Maine.
