Cattywampus Opens At Gallery 80808 In Vista Studios

Cattywampus opens at Gallery 80808 in Vista Studios in Columbia on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 6-9pm. The group show features the works of Columbia artists Elizabeth Adams, Janette Grassi, Doni Jordan, Gina Langston and Kim Lemasters. The show will run through Dec. 9.

In her lithographs and paintings, Adams has been tracking Dante and Beatrice as they fly over the Italian landscape visiting various cities and reacting to each. She will have a one-woman show in Milan at Terzo Millennio Gallery in the spring of 2002. Adams received a Ph.D. in creative writing from the University of South Carolina.

Lemasters received a BA from West Liberty State College, West Virginia and is a current Street Gallery 2 billboard artist. He explores photographic elements on paper and wood panels through the use of xerography, photo transfer and modern monotypes.

Grassi studied design at the Rhode Island School of Design and is an abstract expressionist painter. She creates works on paper, canvas and mixed media. Together, Lemasters and Grassi created a diptych incorporating elements of commercialism.

In addition to individual works, Jordan and Langston linked their creative energies to create paper and mixed media collages. Langston interjects her playful style with the minimal style of Jordan. Langston earned her BA from Winthrop University and Jordan will complete her BFA in art studio at the University of South Carolina in December. Jordan also participated in the 2001 Pritchard's island Artist Retreat sponsored by the Arts Council of Beaufort County.
