SC Governor's School in Greenville, SC, Features Exhibition by Winthrop Faculty

The SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities presents a selected faculty exhibition from Winthrop University's Department of Art and Design, Nov. 4 through Dec. 12, 2002, in the Lipscomb Family Gallery on the Governor's School campus in downtown Greenville, SC.

The exhibition features the work of fifteen Winthrop artists including Crista Cammaroto (photography), Shaun Cassidy (sculpture), Jim Connell (ceramics), David Freeman (painting), Mark Hamilton (photography), Mike Lavine (sculpture), Marge Moody (collage and painting), Janice Mueller (painting), Seth Rouser (painting) Seymour Simmons (watercolor), Michael Simpson (painting), David Stokes (graphic design), Tom Stanley (painting), Jerry Walden (drawing and painting) and Alf Ward (metals).

Winthrop University is a state supported liberal arts university located in Rock Hill, SC. Its NASAD accredited Department of Art and Design boasts twenty-three full-time and twenty-one part-time faculty in the facilities of McLaurin Hall and the historic Rutledge Building. The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree is offered in areas of concentration including ceramics, general studio, visual communication, interior design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture (including jewelry and metals). The Bachelor of Arts (BA) is offered in studio art, art history and art education.

Winthrop University gallery director Tom Stanley who helped select the work for the exhibition noted, "It is not always a simple tasks to find a thematic thread in a group faculty exhibition. If anything, this exhibition displays the diversity of artistic voices, in style, disicipline and approach, currently at Winthrop."

Stanley will provide a discussion of the exhibition on Nov. 20 at 7pm.
