November Issue 2003

Sunset River Marketplace in Calabash, NC, Features Works by Miriam Pinkerton

Oak Island, NC, artist Miriam Pinkerton is being featured through Nov. 29, 2003, at Sunset River Marketplace in Calabash, NC. Her show, entitled, The Other Side Of Miriam, reflects her ongoing interest in exploring new materials and techniques. It includes several of Pinkerton's newly completed collage works and mixed media pieces.

A native of Cary, NC, Pinkerton has had a lifetime interest in the arts. She works in a range of media including watercolor, acrylic and pastel. Always seeking to expand her creativity, she has worked with several artists notably watercolorists Louise Cadillac and Mary Todd Beam, experimental watermedia artist Maxine Masterfield, and impressionist Don Getz.

Honors awarded by her peers include last month's 2003 Brunswick County Art Show/Honorable Mention, 2003 North Carolina Watercolor Society/Merchandise Award, 2003 Oak Island Arts By The Shore/First Place and many more.

Says Ginny Lassiter, owner and executive director of Sunset River Marketplace, "Miriam is one of the most versatile artists I know. She's always experimenting as you can see in this show, but she also works beautifully in traditional media."

In addition to the featured mixed media show, a collection of the artist's more traditional watercolors and pastels will also be on display at the gallery.

Sunset River Marketplace showcases the works of more than 150 fine artists all from North and South Carolina. Offerings include paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor as well as photography, woodworking, hand-blown glass, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, fiber art and more.
