Narnia Studios in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Terry Ruscin on Dec. 2, 2005 Gallery Walk

On Dec. 2, 2005, from 6-9pm, Narnia Studios in Hendersonville, NC, will exhibit select images from the collections of photographer Terry Ruscin, including works from four series: Nature's Way, The American Barn, Hendersonville: Faces & Places, and Mission Statements. Barbara Hughes, owner of Narnia Studios, recently announced the upcoming event.

According to Henderson County author and historian Louise Bailey, "Terry Ruscin is an artist with a camera as well as with a paint brush. His special gift of recognizing meaning in the more commonplace side of life has led to his fascination with rural scenes, wildflowers and landscapes-and to his splendid photographic presentation of them."

Ruscin will be available during the exhibit to meet with the public and answer questions. Narnia Studios is part of the Gallery Walk that is held the same evening throughout Hendersonville.

Ruscin is a naturalist, historian, award-winning author, photographer and designer. Reared in Wisconsin, Ruscin is a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, a former 25-year resident of California, and a current resident of Hendersonville.

Nature's Way features wildflowers, waterfalls and North Carolina scenics. The American Barn captures the essence of rural architecture from California, Wisconsin, Tennessee and the Carolinas. Visitors to Narnia Studios may recognize beloved scenes and personalities in Ruscin's Hendersonville: Faces & Places. And Mission Statements reveals peerless views of California's historic outposts.

As developers scalp the wooded majesty of Western Carolina, making way for housing developments-and as our barns succumb to obsolescence due to a bottom-line-driven economy, Ruscin's photography is a means of preserving the worthiness and historical intrigue of North Carolina's precious eco-culture and iconic barns.

Ruscin's articles, feature stories and photography appear regularly in the Hendersonville Times-News and in the magazines Bold Life and Mountain Traditions.
