Fall Studio Stroll in Asheville, NC's River Arts District Takes Place Nov. 11 & 12, 2006

The New York Times has described the River Arts District in Asheville, NC, as a historic collection of "attractively distressed, previously forsaken structures from Asheville's bygone industrial age." Twice a year, every second weekend in June and November, all the buildings are open to the public for two days of festivities known as the Studio Stroll, taking place Nov. 11 & 12, 2006, from 10am-6pm.

Step through shop worn doors and run smack into the artistic rebirth taking place in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Like a protective shell, each rough brick exterior conceals the magical work of a creative artist: a pearl. Be adventuresome and enter the world of over 70 up-and-coming art professionals. Watch them work in their studios. Talk with them. Be amazed by the fresh color, texture, shape and line you will find.

Come for a visit. Bring your checkbook or cash - as many of the artists do not have credit card machines. Arrive early and stay for lunch at any of our neighborhood eateries including Clingman Avenue Coffee & Catering, Twelve Bones Smokehouse, Twin Cousins Kitchen and Greene's Mini Mart. Shop for the holidays. Have a memorable experience. Find your pearl.

Mediums include: sculptural & functional steel, hot & cold worked glass, painting, sculptural & functional ceramics, textiles, including quilts, clothing and home furnishings, drawing, photography, sculptural & functional wood, jewelry and performance art.
