Spencer Art Galleries in Charleston, SC, Features New Exhibitions

Spencer Art Galleries in Charleston, SC, will present the following exhibitions including: Heritage: Impressions of Ireland, featuring works by Catherine McD. Brandt and husband and wife team Catherine and Jerry Spencer, in Gallery I, from Nov. 3 - 11, 2006 and High Maintenance, featuring new paintings by stylistic interpretive artist Anne Thames, in Gallery II, from Nov. 3 - 11, 2006.

Brandt and the two Spencers spent 20 days in Ireland this summer searching for ancestry. "Painting the lush colors in the beautiful landscapes of Ireland makes me feel as though I have spent the entire summer there," says Catherine McD. Brandt. "Memories of the harmony and peacefulness of the Irish countryside and the people can really inspire."

"It was really good to get in touch with my Irish side," Catherine Spencer says. "Painting the landscapes and special places puts me even more in touch with my ancestry."

"The color and stylistic forms that stimulate Anne Thames are readily apparent in her paintings of elegant women, fabulous fish, and luscious landscapes" says Jerry Spencer, gallery owner. "Nature, beautiful people, flamboyant styles, strong colors, and fine jewels have long been inspirational to Anne."
