Helena Fox Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by West Fraser

Helena Fox Fine Art in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Another Look, featuring paintings and works on paper by West Fraser, on view from Nov. 7 - 28, 2008.

Textures, form, light, color and their subtleties are the focus of nationally renowned American artist West Fraser's plein-air work. For the first time in his 30 years of award-winning paintings, Fraser will be offering drawings in this one-man show. Also on view are oil paintings and watercolors, a medium Fraser is revisiting after 15 years.

From California to Maine, Fraser depicts the opposite coasts of America and their particular characteristics. He also revisits old haunts from his native Southern coast, looking for fresh perspectives for the evocative imagery for which he is so well known. Never one to impose his expectations on a place, Fraser lets the place communicate to him, especially reflected in this body of work.

"I try to find more," Fraser says. "As a naturalistic painter, I am going deeper than before to capture a moment in time in these places."

Helena Fox Fine Art specializes in fine contemporary representational art. Established in 2004, the gallery features a compilation of work by national and international artists, most particularly West Fraser. The varied collection mingles impressionistic landscapes and streetscapes, plein-air paintings, realistic still lifes and trompe l'oeil, with wildlife sculpture and exquisite handcrafted 22K gold jewelry. Representing Sarah Amos, Kenn Backhaus, Christina Bates, John Budicin, Donald Demers, Marie Fox, West Fraser, Billyo O'Donnell, Becky Parrish, Edward Rice and Kent Ullberg.
