Cabarrus Arts Council in Concord, NC, Features Group Exhibit and Seaagrove Pottery

An exhibition of artwork by 16 artists in the limited palette of black, white and red, Seagrove pottery and holiday decor will be on display at The Galleries of the Cabarrus Arts Council in Concord, NC, through Dec. 21, 2010. The Galleries are located at 65 Union Street S, Concord, in Cabarrus County's historic courthouse.

The exhibit, Black, White and Easily Red includes paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, pottery, blown glass and cut paper by 16 artists including: Byron Baldwin, Elizabeth Brim, Jim Connell, James Daniel, Holly Fischer, John Geci, Marie-Helene Grabman, Brian Hibbard, Ronnie Hughes, Alison McGowan, Lori Neill, Karen Newgard, Isaac Payne, Tom Spleth, Mia Tyson and Keaton Wynn.

The exhibit, Shop Seagrove, brings together utilitarian and decorative pieces from seven of the town known for pottery's most prominent artists: Avery Pottery and Tileworks, Cady Clay Works, Chris Luther Pottery, Crystal King Pottery, Dirtworks, King's Pottery and Pottery by Frank Neef.

The Galleries will continue the black, white and red theme with a Christmas tree decorated with black, white and red ornaments created in blown glass, wood, ceramic and paper.

Three artists from Black, White and Easily Red will present a free Gallery Talk and Demonstration on Dec. 2, 2010, at 7:30pm. Photographer Byron Baldwin, ceramic sculptor Holly Fischer and painter Isaac Payne will begin the evening by talking about their work in the Davis Theatre, and then they will demonstrate some of their techniques in The Galleries.

Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, and Saturday, December 11, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Galleries also will be open Friday, November 19, 6-9 p.m., during the downtown Concord Art Walk. The Galleries will be closed the week of Thanksgiving, November 22-26.
