Providence Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Works by Paula Holtzclaw & Jean Cauthen

Providence Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present the exhibit, Abundance: New Landscape, Coastal and Still Life Works by Paula Holtzclaw & Jean Cauthen, on view from Nov. 4 - 30, 2011. A reception will be held on Nov. 4, from 6-9pm.

Providence Gallery is proud to present the work of two exceptional women, each with very different approaches to the canvas in their choice of palette, tone and mood. Despite their differences in technique, these two artists share a love and appreciation for nature that shines through in their work, visually showing us just what we and our children stand to lose if something is not done to preserve these natural areas, ancient coasts and wetlands.

Holtzclaw’s work has been displayed nationally in museum and gallery exhibitions hosted by American Women Artists, and other prestigious art associations. In addition to her seascapes, she has earned quite a following for her traditional, vignette-style still life compositions.

Cauthen loves to celebrate life through her choice of vibrant colors, and the beauty she finds in every aspect of life, from small flowers in bloom in springtime to the exotic beauty of the Italian countryside - a favorite location for Cauthen’s artistic explorations.

Providence Gallery will be celebrating its 7th Annual Holiday Square Works Show again this holiday season, inviting artists working in all media to submit up to three artworks for consideration for this year’s show. We will be accepting submissions from Nov. 1 - 12, 2011, via e-mail only this year. Drop-in submissions will not be considered. Please visit our website for an application, inventory list and more details. Also, see our ad for the show in this month’s issue of Carolina Arts!
