The Artestry Hideaway in Beaufort, NC, Features Works by Mitchell Morton

The Artestry Hideaway in Beaufort, NC, is celebrating its move to 129 Middle Lane, the alley behind Clawson’s Resturant, with an exhibit of works by Mitchell Morton, on view through Jan. 31, 2014.

Owner Angie Williams moved her shop from the boardwalk in November to expand her gallery of over 60 North Carolina Artists to also include teaching classes for adults and children in hand building pottery, art, jewelry and much more. These classes will be taught by herself, her current artists and other artists in the community that would like a place to teach.

Mitchell Morton is a self taught acrylic artist. He has had the desire to draw and paint for as long as he can remember. He only recently began to allow the talent God allotted him to direct his path. In 2007, at the age of 60 his art journey finally began.

Morton was the 2012 winner of the 26th Annual NC Seafood Festival Poster Competition, as well as these other accomplishments including: 2011-2012 - illustrated two children’s books, Granny Louise and Myrtle the Adventurous Turtle; 2011, voted Best Onslow County Artist; 2010, winning First Place at New Bank of the Arts show; 2009, winning Second Place at Beaufort County’s Fine Arts Show; 2009, winning Best in Show at the Onslow Art Council’s Images 2009 Show; 2009, winning Best in Show at the Coastal Carolina Community College Show; and 2008, winning a Purchase Award from the UNC- Wilmington’s Randall Library Permanent Collection.

Morton hopes his paintings communicate to you in a most delightful way and it is his greatest joy to present them to you! The Artestry Hideaway is proud and honored to have Morton as one of their current artists. A selection of his work is always available but a wider range will be shown in this show.
