New Sculpture at Spencer & Sumner in Charleston, SC

The Spencer & Sumner Gallery in Charleston, SC, will introduce the sculpture of Charlene Bregier during the Dec. 1, French Quarter Art Walk. Bregier will feature a 17" high bronze limited edition sculpture of a young girl dancing with her broom. The piece is entitled, Saucie.

"Charlene bregier is very talented," said gallery owner Jerry Spencer. "Her work shows a delicate balance with strong movement. The emotion projected by Saucie is contagious and up-lifting. It is with pride and pleasure that we will exhibit her sculpture through June 2001".

In a statement about her work, Bregier says, "My job is to see the pose, convey the essence, and eliminate the unnecessary in order to move the viewers. People bent and folded, reacting to their day, are all sculptures in the making. Capturing their spirit is my challenge."

Bregier has a BA in Textile Design from East Carolina University. Her studio is in the Tryon Center for Visual Arts in Charlotte, NC. Bregier has been selected to exhibit her work in the 2001 National Sculpture Exhibition, in Washington Square, Washington, DC.
