December Issue 2006

Artful Living in Hickory, NC, Features Works by Patricia Boyd

An exhibit of works by Patricia Boyd will be presented at Artful Living, located on Level Three in the Hickory Furniture Mart in Hickory, NC. The exhibition will open on Dec. 1 and continue through Dec. 31, 2006.

Born in Argentina, Boyd now resides in Boca Raton, FL. As a former student of ballet, she continues her association with the world of dance through her sensitive, gestured compositions of dancers and the performance settings of the theatre. Noted for her fine, luminous brushwork and delicate palette, Boyd frequently depicts ballet and family as a metaphor for civility and refinement of a certain style of life.

Working in oils and watercolors Boyd's impressionist style with short broken brushwork brings the world of storybook ballets and Argentine opera houses to the fore. An array of warm color reflects the elegant gentility and aesthetic harmonies of those performance venues. Her work reflects the values of artistic virtuosity and patronage appealing to many art lovers worldwide.

Well-known galleries throughout the US and abroad represent Boyd's work. Her published and critiqued work has been featured in Boca Times, Boca News, Palm Beach Sun Sentinel, BRET local TV network with Boca Ballet Theatre, Art World News, The Heart of Delray, Design Showcase and Skirt! Magazine in Savannah, GA. Her work can also be found in private collections in Spain, England, Australia, Brazil, and the United States.
