McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC, Offers Exhibit by Current Affiliate Artists

The McColl Center for Visual Art in Charlotte, NC, will present Affiliate Exhibition, an exhibition of works by current affiliate artists: Jeff Pender, Barbara Schreiber, and Elizabeth Spotswood Alexander, on view from Dec. 1 through Jan. 6, 2007.

Jeff Pender is a ceramist from Davidson, NC. He is intrigued by the mysterious aspects of life. Searching for the unknown offers the opportunity to explore and probe for new knowledge and insights. It is through the ritual of personal discovery that one gains an intimate knowledge of ourselves and our world. Pender's work seeks to convey both a sense of mystery and invite discovery.

Barbara Schreiber is a painter from Charlotte, NC. Her paintings and drawings are populated by characters that live in a world of thwarted expectations - a place where hope and reality seldom intersect. They often engage in futile attempts to control the world around them.

Elizabeth Spotswood Alexander is a mixed media artist from Charlotte, NC. Her work draws from memories, moods, feelings and pieces of childhood stories, ultimately, she uses feelings and emotions from her life to create functional and non-functional wooden sculptures that construct a fantastical reverie.

McColl Center for Visual Art is advancing creativity through artist residencies, exhibitions and other educational programs about contemporary art. The Center provides transforming experiences for visual artists, individuals who visit the Center and our broader community. McColl Center for Visual Art is supported by the Annual Fund Drive of the Arts & Science Council; the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency; the National Endowment for the Arts and the generosity of other private, corporate and individual donors.
