Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Offers Annual Holiday Group Show

Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, will present its annual Holiday Group Show, featuring work by Amy Dobbs. The exhibit will be on view from Dec. 5 through Jan. 6, 2009.

This annual exhibition offers a wide range of painting styles and techniques of interest to any art lover, from first time buyers to experienced collectors. An eclectic range of painting styles including: landscape, still life, abstract and figurative will be offered by over twenty artists represented by Shain Gallery.

Born in Richmond, VA, in 1970, Amy Dobbs has studied in the US and Europe and now makes her home in Nimes, the South of France, where she moved in 1995. While in high school, she received the Congressional Award for High School Art Students as well as the A.J. Fletcher Scholarship to study art at Meredith College in Raleigh, NC.

Dobbs works in oil on either linen or wood panels that she prepares with a rabbit skin gesso and paints "live" in front of the subject believing that "nature is our best teacher." Dobbs is a formidable realist painter, equally skilled in landscape, still life and portrait with an extraordinary ability with color.

Shain Gallery located in the heart of Myers Park in Charlotte has been on the forefront of the Charlotte art scene since opening their doors in 1998. The gallery represents many regional and national artists.
