New Exhibits Offered at CALeidoscope Gallery

The CALeidoscope Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is showing an exhibition of works by Loren Dibenedetto and Eva Rizzardi. The exhibit will be on view through Feb. 19. The gallery is the official exhibition space of the Charlotte Art League, Inc., a non-profit organization which will celebrate its 35th anniversary during the year 2000.

Loren Dibenedetto is a classically trained artist, graduating from the Du Cret School of the Arts in NJ with a degree in Fine Arts. She continued at the National Academy School of Fine Arts and later at the Art Student League, both located in New York City. Dibenedetto is an award-winning artist, noted for her bold, still life paintings, vivid floral compositions and dramatic life drawings. "As an artist, it's my intention to successfully paint light falling on objects, creating a dynamic composition. For me it's all about how light effects the subject," says Dibenedetto. "I am a realist who paints to exaggerate reality in a large format. The viewers impression of a piece is the most important component of my work".

Eva Rizzardi, was born in Perugia, Italy, but has become a recently naturalized US citizen. She completed her early studies in southern Switzerland. In 1982, after moving to the US she earned an Associate Degree in Fine Arts. Her diverse style in painting is greatly influenced by her travels and experience. In a continuous effort to experiment with new mediums, she has recently placed her energy in printmaking, using etching, woodcuts, and aquatints. Rizzardi is also noted for her work in watercolor and collage. Her award-winning works are in many private and corporate collections, including collectors in Canada and Europe. "I love colors, I am constantly playing with them and their unlimited combination. Putting together colors, light, and form is how I want to express myself."
