Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Miniatures by Jan Pawlowski

Coleman Fine Art, located in downtown Charleston, SC, presents an exhibition and painting demonstration by plein-air impressionist, Jan Pawlowski. The show will feature new miniature scenes of historic Charleston and its flowers in bloom. Students and collectors can view Pawlowski demonstrating his technique in the gallery, Mar. 16 at noon. Coleman Fine Art will host special Sunday hours for the exhibition on Mar. 17 from 1-4pm.

Raised and trained in Poland, Pawlowski now resides in Nantucket. He travels the coast painting quickly as the day unfolds in plein-air. Pawlowski visits the Lowcountry annually and has the ability to produce unforgettable, refreshing images of downtown Charleston and its surrounding waterways.

One of Pawlowski's most distinguishing trademarks is his ability to capture the light and color of Charleston. As a result, the artist prefers to visit Charleston in the spring when the city is full of new life and spring buds. His paintings instill a sense of clarity, freshness, and renewal.

Pawlowski paints very quickly, often in the morning, before the light and shadows have a chance to change; applying paint with a brush, pallet knife or finger. "Only Nature can bring truth to the canvas," says Pawlowski, "One learns technique in school, but one learns Truth from Nature."
