eyespy art and performance in Charleston, SC, Takes on Wildlife Art Expo

eyespy art and performance space located at Fountain Walk next to the SC Aquarium in Charleston, SC, is presenting an exhibition entitled, Godzilla vs. Charleston. The exhibition will be on view from Feb. 1 - 27, 2002.

Godzilla vs. Charleston is the result of over 15 artists from the region answering an open call for submissions of visual art to eyespy art, and promises to be the most fun and eclectic show of the season. The exhibition will include works by many artists who have never had the opportunity to show their work in Charleston.

A 12-foot T-Rex, a flying Pterodactyl, mermaids, dogs and works on canvas will all be on hand to explore the wilder side of the wildlife theme. The range of interpretations are as numerous as Godzilla's adversaries. Adding some much needed humor to the Southeastern Wildlife Exhibition, which takes place in Charleston annually in Feb. eyespy art and performance hopes to kick off the Charleston tourist season by exhibiting work that shows Charleston is more than just a pretty place to visit.

eyespy art and performance has only been open since Nov. 16, 2001, and the Godzilla vs. Charleston show will be the fourth exhibition. There have also been two performance evenings as well, with more planned for the future. This is a unique art space in Charleston - the only one of its kind - and will continue to provide a venue to emerging local, regional and national artists. The next presentation will be the exhibition, Inside the Mind of Mike P, which will be on view from Mar. 1 through Apr. 3, 2002.
