7th Street Windows Project at the TransAmerica Building in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Marcelo Novo

Columbia, SC, based surrealist artist Marcelo Novo has been selected as one of two artists that will participate in the 7th Street Windows Project at the TransAmerica building in Charlotte, NC, in 2004. This six month long program of McColl Center for Visual Art, gives chosen visual artists the opportunity to display their work in the six windows facing 7th Street (between North Church and North Tryon Streets.) The work that Novo will display is part of three new different series he has been working on simultaneously. The exhibition will run through July 6, 2004 with work rotating on Mar. 6 and May 7, 2004.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Novo studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "Prilidiano Pueyrredon" where he graduated as a Profesor Nacional de Bellas Artes. In 1992 he moved to the United States and subsequently obtained a Masters degree from the University of South Carolina. His works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and abroad, including the Centro Cultural Recoleta, in Buenos Aires, Argentina; the Cinque Gallery in New York; and the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia, SC. In addition, his work is represented in public and corporate collections, including those of the South Carolina State Arts Collection, Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties, and the White House Christmas Ornament Collection. He also taught art at Benedict College and was a scholar-in-residence for the Faculty Resource Network of New York University. He lives and works as a full-time artist in Columbia, SC.
