Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, Presents an Exhibition of Drawings

The Caldwell Arts Council in Lenoir, NC, is presenting the exhibition, Works on Paper - A Drawing Invitational, on view from Feb. 3 - 24, 2006. The exhibit features the drawings of Lynda Lea Bonkeymeyer, Damon Hood, Frank Irizarry, and "The Big Heads" (students of Thomas Thielemann, an instructor in the Fine Arts department of Caldwell Community College).

Lynda Lea Bonkeymeyer, of Randleman, NC, began making images that were metaphorical of her home in 1991. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree form Queens University of Charlotte in 1993, and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Radford University. She began teaching full time for Caldwell Community College in 2001. Bonkeymeyer also is an adjunct instructor teaching drawing and design for the Art Department at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She has exhibited throughout the United States, and is represented by several galleries in the southeast. Curator of this exhibit, Bonkeymeyer lives and works in her studio in Lenoir with her husband Thomas Thielemann.

Damon Hood, of Lenoir is a graduate of Caldwell Community College, and attended East Carolina University. Hood currently works as an assistant instructor of drawing and painting at Caldwell Community College.

Frank Irizarry retired from an architecture career to become an artist. He is now a freelance artist who produces architectural renderings. Currently in Italy, Irizarry is designing for the Winter Olympics.

"The Big Heads" are students of Thomas Thielemann, an instructor in the Fine Arts department of Caldwell Community College. Thielemann, a native of Griffin, GA, holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in painting from Radford University. His art has been represented throughout many southeastern galleries, and many of his poems have published in books and magazines. The drawings viewed in this exhibit are a collaboration guided by Thielemann, and completed by the students.
