Southeastern Wildlife Exposition Held in Charleston, SC, Feb. 15 - 17, 2008, Features Works by 120 Artists

Peggy Watkins

The 26th annual Southeastern Wildlife Exposition will be held in eight venues in downtown Charleston, SC, from Feb. 15-17, 2008

Always the cornerstone of the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, the artwork displayed at SEWE represents the pinnacle of the wildlife art genre. With works by over 100 painters and sculptors who are on hand to share their experiences and the stories behind the pieces, art lovers should really plan to go through the Charleston Place ballroom more than once to take it all in.

This year 16 of SEWE's wonderfully talented carvers will host a special educational exhibit at the Mills House. In addition to finished works for sale, they will also have works in various stages on display to help attendees better understand and appreciate the carving process. The Charleston Marriott will house nature photography, fine Audubon prints by Discovery Editions, and a vast array of prints and reproductions by SEWE artists.

Established in 1982, the goal of the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition goal was, and is, to produce an event which promotes the conservation and preservation of nature and wildlife through its focus on the visual arts and educational outreach programs.

Tickets are $15/day (Fri. or Sat.), $10/Sunday, or $35/3-day pass, and children 10 and under are free. SEWE provides free shuttle service between venues during the Expo weekend with a ticket or badge. VIP packages offer extra perks and after-hours activities, including an artist reception, black-tie gala/auction, the SEWE Soiree with a Lowcountry feast and live music, and access to hospitality suites throughout the weekend. These packages, which have sold out in the last few years, start at just $300/couple.
