Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, Features Ceramic Works by Alice McNair Hughson

Wofford College is presenting an exhibition of ceramic works by Alice McNair Hughson in the Main Level Cases in The Sandor Teszler Library in Spartanburg, SC, through Mar. 21, 2003.

Hughson's love of pottery began at St. Anne's Belfield in 1998, where she continued to develop her art under Randy Bill until graduation in 1999. In the summer of 2000, Hughson took a ceramics course at Piedmont Community College in Charlottesville, VA, under Tom Clarkson.

Hughson is currently a senior at Wofford College where she is an English major. During her interim study for Wofford College in Jan., 2001, she studied with Jim Kempes in Abiquiu, NM, at the Ghost Ranch. There Highson worked with earthenware, stoneware, porcelain, micaceous clay and primitive firing techniques.

In the fall of 2001, Hughson took another ceramics course at Converse College in Spartanburg, where she studied with David Zacharias. In the summer of 2002 she attended Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC, where she studied with Posey Bacopoulos. During the fall of 2002, Hughson continued her studies with Zacharias at Converse College.
