Piazza Gallery Art & Framing in Mt. Pleasant, SC, Offers Works by Jane Sirulnik-Snyder

The Piazza Gallery Art & Framing in Mt. Pleasant, SC, features works by Jane Sirulnik-Snyder from Mar. 1 - 31, 2004.

Sirulnik-Snyder enjoys painting whimsical animals certain to inspire a smile. Born in Springfield, MA, she showed an interest in art at a young age. At six, she began her art studies at the Springfield Museum. In high school, Sirulnik-Snyder was followed by groups of children who enjoyed watching her draw. Invariably, they would ask her to sketch their portraits in charcoal and pencil. "We spent the summers at Crescent Beach in Connecticut, and there was always a crowd around me. Naturally, as a teenager, I loved the attention."

Sirulnik-Snyder is the daughter of a landscape watercolorist and past president of the American Medical Art Association who supported his daughter's dream to become an artist. She studied art at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and worked in the garment industry for many years designing apparel. "I was fortunate that my father not only gave me my talent, but also the support to develop my talent. I have my love of painting because he so loved to paint landscapes. He gave me his joy."

In 1997, Sirulnik-Snyder moved to Mt. Pleasant where she continues to use acrylics and watercolor to depict the beauty of coastal Carolina. "I enjoy doing portraits, but it is great fun to take a beautiful bird like the egret and give it a bit of personality. Animals can be humorous, too!"
