Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Exhibition by Connie Winters and Darren Young

New works by artists Connie Winters and Darren Young will be showcased at the Shain Gallery in Charlotte, NC, from Mar. 23 through Apr. 17, 2007.

An outstanding Impressionist painter, Winters has emerged as one of the strongest artistic influences in the Southeastern United States. Her innovative use of organic color continues to evolve in her works which inspires personal contemplation of the significance of time and place.

Winters studied with a number of notable painters including: North Carolina Pulitzer Prize winner, Phillip Moose, Shirley Markham, and the late Alice Steadman. She has been featured in many publications, and recently featured in an eight page article in the February/March 2007 International Artist. Winters' work has earned her national recognition and is found in numerous prominent collections including: the Coca-Cola Collection, John Randolph Hearst, Jr. and the Duke Mansion, Charlotte, NC.

Darren Young's emphasis on painterly brushstroke and strong shifts from tonality to a dramatic juxtaposition of warm and cool tones combine to create landscapes with an ethereal quality. Young was the recipient of a Graduate Scholarship to Indiana University at Bloomington, earning his Master's Degree.
His work is featured in numerous public and private collections including Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC.

Shain Gallery, located in the heart of Myers Park in Charlotte, has been on the forefront of the Charlotte art scene since opening their doors in 1998. The gallery represents many regional and national artists.
