The Collectors Gallery in Raleigh, NC, Features Works by Daniel Johnston

The Collectors Gallery in Raleigh, NC, will present an exhibit of new works by Daniel Johnston, on view from Mar. 6 - 31, 2009.

Johnston is an internationally recognized North Carolina potter from Seagrove, NC. His work can be found in private, public and museum collections. He apprenticed with world renowned NC potter, Mark Hewitt for four years and with Sawein Ailkahom in Northeast Thailand. Johnston also studied in North Devon, England with potter Clive Bowen.

Johnston uses local clay from Seagrove and creates glazes using a combination of wood ash, local red earthenware clay, and a local stoneware clay. He transforms the clay into useful and beautiful objects. He has been quickly recognized for his immense talent and beautifully drafted pots and vessels.
