Tippy Stern Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Exhibition of Fine Art Prints

Beginning on Apr. 14, Tippy Stern Fine Art, LLC in Charleston, SC, will be showing the prints of three artists: Radcliffe Bailey, Hung Liu and Juan Logan. The exhibition is titled Visibilities: Limited Edition Prints. The exhibit will run through May 11.

Radcliffe Bailey was born in Bridgeton, NJ in 1968. He received his BFA from Atlanta College of Art. His works are held in numerous prominent public and private collections throughout the US. Bailey's art is a mystical blend of ancestral imagery and personal spirit. His work embodies both improvisational and ritualized elements of composition, which he has compared to a jazz musician's search for a certain sound or rhythm.

Hung Liu was born in Changehun, China in 1948. She received her MFA in Visual Arts from UC-San Diego in 1986. She is now Chair of the painting department at Mills College in Oakland, CA, where she has taught since 1990. Hung Liu's beautifully layered imagery reflects the cultural contrasts of her life, from her coming of age during the Cultural Revolution in China, to her emigration to the US in 1984. Her work is personal and narrative, exploring the conflicts between personal annational identity in a search for self.

Juan Logan was born in Nashville, TN, in 1946. He received his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. His works have been widely shown, nationally and internationally, since 1969. He currently holds a faculty position at UNC-Chapel Hill. Much of Logan's work explores the psychological and social impact of slavery. He utilizes broad fields of color, filled with line and texture, and cultural iconography to develop a symbolic language of tension and equilibrium. Juan Logan's abstractions appear simple, but resonate with deepness and complexity.

On May 26, Tippy Stern Fine Art will begin showing Paintings: New and Recent works by Richard Hagerty, Don Nice and Arn Strasser.

Ongoing exhibitions by Gallery artists include Phil Garret, Richard Hagerty, Juan Logan, Don Nice, Susan Page, Brian Rutenberg, Arn Strasser and Allan Wendt.
