Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Margaret Hoybach

Margaret Hoybach will be the featured artist during the month of Apr., 2003, at Waterfront Gallery in Charleston, SC. The collection will feature scenes from her recent painting trips to France. The medium is a combination of watercolor and pen and ink. Also on display will be a collection of Charleston scenes and the Lace Curtain series, which she started in Ireland.

Hoybach is a lecturer at universities, colleges, museums, and to professional organizations. She conducts watercolor workshops in the US and Europe and has juried and judged numerous shows in the southeastern US. Hoybach has an educational television series on painting, The Artistry of Margaret Hall Hoybach, which is produced and shown in the Washington, DC, area. For the past several years she has concentrated on painting in southern France and a show of her French works opened in Provence, France, in July 1999. Her second book Colors of France was released in the summer of 2002.

Extensive painting trips to Europe, the Orient, and throughout the US have given her a rich inspiration for her watercolors. During 30 years of worldwide travel, Hoybach has developed sketching techniques that enable her to capture the essential magnetism of the subject on site and then turn these sketches into finished paintings.

Hoybach is a native of Washington, DC. She received her BA from the University of Maryland School of Fine Arts in 1966 and took advanced studies at the University of California at Davis, CA. She and her husband have lived in the Charleston area for the last twenty years.
