Charleston Art Gallery & Portrait Studio in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Aring

The Charleston Art Gallery & Portrait Studio in Charleston, SC, will host a visiting exhibition through Apr. 30, 2004, entitled, That Which Inspires, featuring watercolors and oils, by the award winning artist, Aring, of Aiken, SC.

Aring's works can be found in private collections around the world. Having lived and traveled around the world, Aring continues to travel and paint. The artist says, "Anywhere I go I always have supplies to capture what inspires and moves me."

"That Which Inspires is a very strong collection," says Cecile Langham Cothran, gallery owner. "Aring's academic training is quite evident in the deft handling of the medium, and the depth of emotion evoked by the work is indicative of a passion for the subject matter."

"Aring's genre paintings enable you to share the artist's experience of the place," says Cothran, "and to see yourself enjoying it as well." There are European scenes as well as Charleston scenes, with a strong emphasis on the human figure. With a bachelor's degree in studio art and art history as well as a masters from Lander University, the artist continues to study with graduate classes from Furman University and is a certified South Carolina art teacher who has earned National Board Certification and is a National Arts Education member as well as a member of Aiken Artist Guild.
