Historic Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island, SC, Offers Juried Fine Art & Craft Show

The Art Market at Historic Honey Horn, a juried fine art and craft show, is set for Apr. 30 through May 1, 2005, on Hilton Head Island, SC. The show is part of BRAVO - Celebrate the Arts! Festival held during the month of May each year. BRAVO is a month-long celebration of our area's vibrant arts community and diverse cultural heritage in partnership with the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce.

The Coastal Discovery Museum, sponsors of the show, has juried in 55 artists that work in clay, wood, fibers, metals, glass, jewelry, watercolors, oil, mixed media and photography. All artists will have their items on display and available for purchase. The group of artists represents 10 states, coming from as far away as Wisconsin and New York. Artists submitted their entries through slides and were juried into the show in January by three local jurors.

These artists are competing for $5,000 in awards. This year's judge is Michael Haga the Program Coordinator for the School of the Arts at The College of Charleston. In addition to his role as an administrator and adjunct professor at the College, Haga has participated as board member and advisor to several arts organizations across the state such as the South Carolina Artisans Center in Walterboro, SC, and the South Carolina Arts Alliance in Rock Hill, SC. Haga has been involved in judging and jurying fine arts and crafts shows in the past including the Lowcountry Artisans show in Bluffton, the Atalaya Arts and Crafts Festival and the Piccolo Spoleto Craft
Exhibition.

Honey Horn, a beautiful 68-acre site, is located off Highway 278, across from Gumtree Road, at the 3rd light on the island. Food and beverages will be available on site.
