Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Works by Daniel Douke and Gallery Artists

Daniel Douke

The Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is presenting two exhibitions including: Rose Paintings, featuring works by Daniel Douke, and Object Beauty, featuring works by gallery artists. Both exhibitions will be on view through Apr. 16, 2005.

California artist, Daniel Douke, views the world as a realist. He says that the straightforwardness of representational painting has always engaged him. Past series of work have included trompe l'oeil paintings of cigar boxes, metal and cardboard sheeting. For some time now his attention has been on roses. Rose Paintings features works inspired by Douke's continuing fascination with this classic beauty.

Born in 1943 in Los Angeles, Douke received a MA from California State University, where he is also currently a Professor of Art. During his 30-year career as an artist, he has had over forty solo gallery and museum exhibitions across the United States.

Object Beauty features works by several gallery artists. The exhibition, celebrating the sculptural object, includes works by Dale Chihuly, Alice Ballard Munn, Albert Paley, Brian Russell, Ramón Urbán and Emily Wilson, as well as the legendary Lino Tagliapietra.
