UNC Asheville in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Gloria Gaffney

An exhibition entitled, Asheville Revisited, featuring some 25 paintings by local artist Gloria Gaffney, will be on view from Apr. 1-28, 2005, at UNC Asheville's Blowers Gallery in Asheville, NC.

Gaffney, an Asheville resident, renders cityscapes of downtown Asheville in oil paintings and pen and ink drawings. She is known for her "en plein air" technique, completing the artwork at the site of inspiration. Her work can be seen at the Biltmore Estate winery, where she designed a 26-foot overhead border, as well as Kress Emporium, where she exhibits year-round.

Gaffney designed the 2004 Bele Chere poster for the City of Asheville, along with numerous posters for the Asheville Lyric Opera. Gaffney teaches painting at UNC Asheville's College for Seniors.
